Focus is the key to success. But what if you focus too much? Then the game becomes a task, an obligation, and creativity disappears. In my coaching, I often see players who are so focused on their responsibilities that they forget why they started playing football in the first place: the joy, the freedom, the magic of the game.
Recently, I coached a talented player struggling with his performance. He was dedicated, trained hard, and followed tactical instructions to the letter. But something was missing. His game felt forced, his actions predictable. "I'm doing everything right, but it feels like I'm stuck," he said, frustrated.
So I gave him a challenge: "Play as if you're a kid again. Feel the ball, play with intuition. Use your focus, but leave room for spontaneity." The first time he tried this, he felt awkward. But soon, something special happened. He smiled, his movements became smoother and less predictable. And the best part? He played better than ever.
This lesson applies not only to football but also to life. Focus is important, but if you impose too many rules on yourself, you lose creativity and joy. The best performances come from a balance of discipline and freedom.
So my advice: train hard, be disciplined, but don’t forget to enjoy the game—both on and off the field. Because in the end, it’s that balance that truly makes you shine.
